After a decades-long run of providing media placement services in combination with research, marketing and members services marketing under the association banner, the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association and Manitoba Community Newspapers have re-launched the media placement function as a standalone service offered by AdCanada Media Inc. AdWest Marketing will continue as the dedicated research and marketing support arm of the SWNA and MCNA as well as providing research and support services to AdCanada.
We built the framework for AdCanada Media Inc. with a long-term vision and the knowledge that more efficient operations would eventually lead to expanded services and ultimately an entirely new business model for the future. That ‘future’ for us began in July of 2016 with taking the first steps in the launch of a new, for profit venture. The objective was simple, create a media sales business that could respond to the fast-changing needs of the marketplace and assist clients in campaign execution beyond a simple roster of titles.
Since then you may have already experienced some of the effects of our new vision and as a result, included community print in campaigns whereas before it would have been too difficult to manage. It is this ability to help agencies and advertisers execute print campaigns on a national basis that has put the greatest distance between the services we offered under the old structure and those we are able to promote as part of the blueprint for AdCanada.
As of May 31, 2017 our database of newspapers has grown to over 370 titles across Canada and it grows by the week. Our scope as a sales entity is now truly national and our relationships extend directly to individual publishers, small groups as well as reciprocal selling arrangements with the large corporate operations.
While nothing will change in terms of staffing or functions there will be changes in process that you will need to be aware of, specifically as it relates to Vendor Information in your booking systems.
While there’s no end of data to support the fact that newspapers in rural communities are still the #1 source of news and information, by a significant margin, the reality is that executing community newspaper campaigns can be a cumbersome process. Under AdCanada Media Inc. we are now in a position to change that.
